Overkill - The Electric Age * Meeting the Blitz

In this blog i'm going to review the new Overkill cd and talk about meeting the guys at in store signing but first a things.

* I can't stop listening to Danko Jones - I think Bad Thoughts.  I love that song.
* I started listening to the new Iced Earth Dystopia so far so good.  Super under-rated band.
* Scorpions playing PNC on the final sting tour, think i'm going to go.  Playing with Queensryche and I love Queensryche.

I have to preface this review by saying I'm a huge Overkill fan so before I even listen to this cd I know I'm going to like it.  The only question is how much.  Well the thing is I love their previous release Ironbound.  It's a top five all time Overkill cd.  Right up there with Feel the Fire, Taking Over and From the Underground and Below. So the question is did they top it with The Electric Age?  No they didn't but its not a step down either.  It's almost as if Ironbound had another ten songs.  The only real difference is the lack of an epic song like Ironbound.  The cd kicks off with the blistering Come and Get It and goes head first into the Electric Rattlesnake, a classic Overkill sound that shows Bobby Blitz in fine form.  In fact Bobby sounds in top form on the whole cd.  Wish You Were Dead and Save Yourself are two more stand out tunes on the cd.  The thing about Overkill is you know what you are going to get.  A cd full of classic trash metal to bang your head to.  They remind me of Motorhead ever consistent with their sound and never disappointing.  The boys in Overkill will be playing a show at the Best Buy Theater, NYC in May.  See you there!

Here I am with Blitz at Vintage Vinyl in Ford's NJ.  As you can see I came decked out in my Overkill gear complete with a Feel the Fire vinyl that I had Bobby and DD sign.  The guys were super cool, signed everything and posed for pictures with everyone who showed up.

That's it for now my fellow Metalheads and Earthdogs.  We'll talk soon.
